Are you interested?
This initiative has been suggested by members of the new Warradale Community Action Association Inc. to cut down on crime and anti social behaviour. It is a program to be run by the community which means YOU.
YOU have to call the police Emergency 000 St Marys police 9677 7499
YOU have to watch and gather information and descriptions of vehicles, offender, and the offence.
YOU have to write the information down and give to the police. This can lead to the arrest and charging of people responsible for crime and anti social behaviour.
The group will support you if you are a witness, victim or informant. This means being with you during police interviews, going to court with you if it gets that far, talking or visiting you if you are afraid and just helping,
This is not a vigilante group – it is a Community Watch Group
The group needs ideas and suggestions to make it work. If you are interested in helping to cut down on crime and anti social behaviour, please contact 0407 674 478 or 0414 868 535

The Watoto Choir is from Uganda in Eastern Africa and is made up of children who have been orphaned through war, poverty and disease.
The motto for Watoto is Rescue, Raise and Rebuild which refers to the way the child’s lives are rescued, they are raised in a loving family and then they can go on to rebuild their lives and ultimately their country.
The children from the choir performed two songs for the students of Holy Family and our school choir sang a song of welcome to the choir.
The Watoto group performed a spectacularly colourful and very memorable concert for an enthusiastic audience during the evening in the Holy Family Catholic Church. The concert was a message of hope for all people and a triumph of the human spirit.
Many of the children spent the Thursday night with sponsor families from the school community, which further added to the cultural experience for these families.

Miles Stepniewski, from Mulgoa, and Jonathan Dunn won this presigious award with a comedy piano duet of the Hungarian Rhapsody which turned into a very entertaining duel! Mulgoa doctor Adrian Sheen organises this fund raising evening every year. it was sponsored by the Mulgoa Valley & Warradale Gazette, being judged by a panel of experts who solemnly swear that they know nothing about music!
There were some great acts including singing, dancing, a magician, a young soccer player with some impressive football skills and a guest appearance from Johanna Hemara, our Silverdale superstar and her daughter.
The funds raised are for student scholarship for the Fijian island of Tavenui wher attending school is just not possible for many children.

Francine, aged 18, studied mulching techniques and the watering methods used with her father’s cabbages and interviewed other cabbage farmers to determine the best system for growth.

She did not win but it was a wonderful experience and Francine wants to acknowledge the encouragement of her teacher Shelly Baldwin (pictured).

Clean-Up Australia Day, 7th March 2010, 8am – Norton’s Basin. It’s a cloudy still autumn morning and fifteen volunteers (all strangers) wind down the steep and heavily eroded road to beautiful Norton’s Basin.
We are armed with bags, gloves, one first aid kit, cold sausages, and heaps of enthusiasm. Two volunteers, Kelly and Kyle from Silverdale, stay in the car park to pick up the piles of rubbish left by drivers.
Down in the Basin, there are lots of glass beer bottles smashed by people after finishing a beer. Countless cigarette butts, cans, take-away food bags, lolly wrappers and plastic soft drink bottles litter the Basin and the team fills ten bags. The rain holds off but we all work up a sweat (except the boys who keep jumping in for a swim!!!). It is hard work pulling the filled bags up the steep slope to the car park so we all take turns (and lots of breaks!!). After a mini-sausage sizzle, some lamingtons and cold drinks we all re-group in the car park, completely exhausted. Our Clean-Up Australia Day is over.
We have filled 10 recycle bags, 24 rubbish bags and hauled in two lounges, half a car, and pile of dumped general waste. It is an excellent result and the team smiles for a photo. It is on again next year and a group of strangers is now a team committed to cleaning up Norton’s in 2011. Please come along!!
A big big thank you to Christine Maude (from the Warragamba & Silverdale Word), Kelly & Kyle Callaghan (from Silverdale), Blake Turner & friends, Matthew Adamson & Nathan Glynn (representing St Doms School, Kingswood), Wendy & Howard Thompson, Luke Pallister, Beau Pallister, Melissa Jenkins, Joshua & David Griffin, Joshua Bilson, June Bourke, Kara Nascivera, and Sandra Onus.
Hey guys thank you and hope to see you in 2011. Sandra Onus.

Girl Guides is a great organisation for girls who love making friends, having fun and developing new skills.
The Warragamba Girl Guides have vacancies for girls aged 7 to 15. They meet in the Guide hall on Monday or Wednesday evenings and enjoy activities and games which are fun but also teach leadership, teamwork, decision making, a respect for the environment, communication skills and a sense of community. Outdoor activities are an important part of the Australian Guide programme and the girls have had the opportunity to go camping, sailing, horse riding, rock climbing, flying, swimming, surfing, ice skating as well as campfire cooking and gadget making. The new Southern Cross Ranger unit for girls aged 15 – 18 years old has 4 girls working on their Queen’s Guide award and meets fortnightly.
The Guide hall has been renovated with an internal bathroom, new kitchen and storage areas. Many thanks to the parents who have helped but especially Steve Bloem who has been a wonderful help with the building works and Terry Fraser who has spent many hours painting the hall.
2010 is the ‘Year of The Guide’ celebrating 100 years of Guiding with some great events planned so this is a great time to get involved and help local girls grow into responsible young women.
We need a new female, over 18, leader for the girls. No experience is necessary as free training is provided. Please phone Margaret for further details: 4773 8974.
